With the Avs 3-2 victory over the Flames last night, they skate to just 5 points out of the playoff race. That’s not to say that they are in it, still far from it with the way the rest of the West is playing. Most importantly we’re not out. The mentality of taking it one win at a time seems to be working, and will need to keep that mantra as we hone in on the home stretch of the season.

On a much delayed side note - Mike Russo of the Star Tribune: Cody McLeod is an enforcer; it is his job to defend his team. As a writer from the Land of 10,000 Lakes, where hockey is claimed to be king, one would think you’d have more relevant things to write about when you have a team that has the best record since the All-Star break, and is now 20-5-1 after acquiring your saving grace, Devan Dubnyk. What truly boils my blood is that Matt Cooke took out Tyson Barrie for the rest of the season last year on a cheap shot, so if you want to talk about dirty players maybe you should look on your own bench. Rather than wasting your words on Cody McLeod, perhaps you should concentrate on what your team does best – choking in the playoffs.

"Hey Russo! I hear your mom likes toothless gingers."

Clearly, I have developed quite a hatred for the Wild. What kind of name is that anyways?  A more appropriate name would be the Minnesota Riverrats. Not only does it describe them, but it’s an actual specific entity, not some arbitrary ambiguous adjective used to describe things that live outdoors.  Are Hobos wild? That being said, here is to the final push of the season, where every point counts!
