Colorado Avalanche: A New Hope?

December 28, 2015 Samantha Jambor

A long time ago, in a stadium not so very far away, the Avalanche took on the Toronto Maple Leafs. That night the Avs would fall in a dramatic fashion by allowing four goals in the third period and would lose in a pathetic 4-7 flop. Talk about succumbing to the Dark Side. However, after nearly a week off, the Avs were back looking to find the force once again at Pepsi Center facing the Arizona Coyotes, NOT the Phoenix Coyotes. As if it matters if they are the Arizona or Phoenix Coyotes, like anyone in Arizona gives two f***s about the greatest sport ever, puck drop is usually past most of its inhabitants’ bedtime anyways.

Unfortunately, these photos are from last year (I sure wouldn't wear a dress in freezing weather!). In an unknowing move, I gave away the tickets to Star Wars night. I can't stress my disappointment enough, I blame the Avalanche marketing department…

Unfortunately, these photos are from last year (I sure wouldn't wear a dress in freezing weather!). In an unknowing move, I gave away the tickets to Star Wars night. I can't stress my disappointment enough, I blame the Avalanche marketing department for not promoting it more.

In hopes of igniting a little more performance out of one Mr. Natty Mack, Roy has mixed up the high performing top line and put MacKinnon on the second line with the Jedi Masters of Tangs and Iggy. It would be Iggy, with an assist by MacKinnon, who would score first giving the Avs their ninth game in a row scoring the first goal.

However, it would not be enough and the Avs would lose 1-2 in overtime. I wouldn’t go so far as to say the Coyotes are any sort of Sith Lord, I save that for the truly evil teams (we all know who they are), but with each missed point the Avs are getting closer and closer to the Dark Side. The Dark Side being any place beyond 8th and missing the playoffs yet again.

As the saga goes for last night’s game, it ends with a disappointment. However the Avs will look to strike back with hopes of Iginla scoring his 600th goal in the distant system known as the Shark Tank. May the force be with us!

* In case any of you reading this are wondering, it was Star Wars night at Pepsi Center so it is not just me being a crazed Star Wars geek, even though I actually am one.
